Activities for Personality Development
The activities such as NSS programme officer meetings at district level, Youth
Leadership Development Camps, Art of Living Camps, Educational tours for visiting the
social projects in Maharashtra, Girls volunteers (Youti Karyashala) at University level,
State level Inter University workshop on AIDS prevention etc. are undertaken every year.
The NSS activities of the University are poised to achieve a unique feat in
building a new village which is throughout truly casteless. The village is reconstructed
through shramdan of NSS volunteers at District, University, State & National level youth
camps. The reconstructed village is named as ‘Rashtriya Sevagram’ This new village is
constructed at Chalburga Tq. Ausa Dist. Latur i.e. in earthquake affected area. About 80
houses have been constructed. All concepts of an ideal village are implemented in
‘Rashtriya Sevagram’ in the memory of the people who died in the earthquake which
occurred on 30th Sept. 1993. A memorial park will also be created by the NSS
participation. The NSS dept. of our University has done a commendable work in
Chalburga. The University has bagged Indira Gandhi NSS National Award 98-99 of Rs.
One Lac for successfully commissionry the above project.
Finance and Accounts
Expenditure on Regular activities: An amount of Rs.160/- per volunteer per
annum is earmarked for expenditure on regular activities. The expenditure is shared in
the ratio of 7:5 between Centre and State Governments.
- Regular Programmes: Out of Rs.160/-, an amount of Rs.25/- per volunteer are
spent on establishment / administration expenses at University level.
Similarly an amount of Rs.135/- per voluntees is incurred on establishment at
college level.
- Special Camping Programmes : Under the special camping programme, camps of
10 days duration are organised during the vacations every year. Only 50 percent of total
strength of NSS volunteers are allow to participate in camp. A provision of Rs.30/- per
volunteer per day is made for these special camps. This is mainly for expenditure on
boarding, lodging and transport of the volunteers.
