Greetings from the Women Studies Centre!
I am pleased to announce that the Women’s Studies Centre, financed by the University Grants Commission, New Delhi has started functioning in School of Social Sciences from 10th March, 2010. Dr. Derek Hooper, an eminent consultant on gender equality of UK Government, London had inaugurated the Centre. In his address, mainly focused on politics of public spaces and institution and how they sustain inequalities.
In short span of time of two years, we have successfully organized a series of lectures and interactive session on burning social issues of caste and gender, rights of girl child, drive against female foeticide, women health, domestic violence, NGO and women development, globalization and women livelihood, erosion of gender Inequality, etc for dissemination of knowledge among students and others concerned actively engaged on women issues.
For generating awareness and up gradation of knowledge, the centre has successfully completed one interdisciplinary certificate course on Women Studies, and second certificate course is commencing soon. I am pleased to invite all to join the course and act as change agent for emancipations of women inequality in the society. All the details about the course are available on the university website.
