Dr. Debendranath Mishra, the present Director of the Sub-Centre, Latur (since 2010) was the Controller of Examinations and Registrar-in-charge of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, Maharashtra (India) and was also the Head of the Department of Botany and Biotechnology of Abeda Inamdar College (University of Pune), Pune, Maharashtra. He is an ex-NCLite (National Chemical Laboratory, Pune), where he contributed to research in conservation of endangered plant species of Western Ghats by Tissue Culture techniques, a project of the Department of Forests & Environment, Govt. of India. Dr. Mishra is the Member of the Senate (current) and member Library Committee of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Nanded.
A Post Doctoral Fellow (Gonda Fellowship) of the Royal Academy of Arts and Sciences, The Netherlands, Dr. Mishra has a career over 30 years marked by accomplishments in teaching, research, social work and academic administration of large institutions.
A widely travelled Dr. Mishra has attended conferences, delivered lectures and visited many academic and important institutes in India and abroad.
As an academic administrator, he has introduced innovative reforms in university governance and quality improvement, especially in the examination systems with remarkable success. He has handled and executed the functions of the chairman, secretary and member secretary or a member of academic statutory authorities/bodies/committees of the University with a difference.
His participation in the national development programmes and his contributions in social work are of additional value to his varied experiences
The Director has been progressing in his determination to strengthen the position of Latur Sub-Centre of SRTMU at par with other Centers of excellence in the world.
