Since the establishment of Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University in 1994, there was a demand to establish a Chair in the name of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji. However, it was not getting materialised due to various reasons. After joining of Prof. .Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar as a Vice-Chancellor in 2013, he took serious steps to establish the chair and under his guidance and continues efforts, University has successfully established the chair. In Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Sammelan at Ghuman Hon’ble Chief Minister, Shri Devendraji Fadnavis, announced an endowment of Rs. 1.00 crore for the establishment of the Chair. As this was not enough to fulfil the requirement of the proposal, an effort was made to pursue with UGC to establish a Chair in the name of Shri. Guru Gobind Singhji. The proposal was accepted and a Chair was sanctioned to the University. Still funds obtained were not enough but the work of the Chair was started under the guidance of Coordination committee and Dr. Deepak Shinde as a Coordinator. Among the activities carried-out, include a seminar on ‘Life and Work’ of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji, unveiling a portrait of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji and a proposal to publish a book on ‘Life, Work and Teaching’ of Shri Guru Gobind Singhji. Later, university made a plan to convert the Chair into Shri Guru Gobind Singhji Adhyasan Sankul and Research Centre. On the occasion of 350th birth anniversary of Shri Guru Gobindsinghji Government of India has announced a plan to provide fund to the city of Nanded of Rs. 150 crore. University submitted a proposal seeking Rs. 25.00 Crore aid for the Adhyasan Sankul and was approved. The plan of the Hon`ble Vice Chancellor Dr. Pandit Vidyasagar is to built this Sankul in unique manner. We are happy to announce here that this is the first Adhyasan of its kind in the world. The main purpose of the Centre will be to make comparative study and research of all the world religions and cultures, and there by propagate the message of true fraternity of all human being.
