For over two decades, the School of Management Sciences has been a centre of excellence where academic knowledge meets practical experience, innovation, and social responsibility. We take pride in our pioneering contribution to Disaster Management education in Maharashtra, with our trained professionals serving District Disaster Management Authorities, government institutions, PSUs, private organizations, and diverse sectors across India.

Our School offers a distinctive range of Postgraduate, Diploma, and Undergraduate programmes in Management, Commerce, Disaster Management, Business Administration, and Hospitality Studies. Strong emphasis on fieldwork, experiential learning, industry exposure, extension activities, and career-oriented education enables our students to develop the knowledge, skills, and confidence required to succeed in a rapidly changing professional environment.

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) has emerged as one of our flagship programmes, offering a unique combination of conventional and emerging specializations designed to respond to the changing needs of industry, society, and the economy. The programme focuses on developing competent, adaptable, and socially responsible management professionals.

The Post Graduate Diploma in Disaster Management (PGDDM) is another distinctive programme of the School, preparing skilled professionals for career opportunities in disaster management, risk reduction, emergency response, and allied sectors.

Our M.Com. programme provides quality commerce education with a strong focus on career development, while the GST Certificate Course equips students with practical knowledge of contemporary taxation and professional skills.

From the Academic Year 2026–27, the School is further expanding its academic portfolio with the B.Sc. Hospitality Studies, aligned with NEP 2020 and incorporating industry apprenticeships, experiential learning, and Multiple Entry–Multiple Exit opportunities.

Our NEP 2020-aligned BBA programme provides undergraduate students with a strong foundation in business management, entrepreneurship, innovation, and business development.

It gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the School of Management Sciences, Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University, Sub-Campus, Latur.

Management education today is not limited to classrooms, textbooks and examinations. The School offers programmes across Management, Commerce, Hospitality and specialised areas, including MBA with specialisations in Disaster Management, International Finance & Banking, Human Resource Development, Marketing Management, Water Management and Rural Development along with BBA, B.Sc. About the School

Our Journey

The School of Management Sciences (SOMS), SRTMUN Sub-Campus, Latur, was established on 17th September 2007 with a vision to nurture the talent and potential of the rural youth of the Marathwada region. The School commenced its first MBA programme in the Academic Year 2007–08, with a commitment to provide quality, need-based, socially relevant, and employment-oriented management education.

Since its inception, SOMS has continuously evolved in response to the changing needs of society, industry, and the regional economy. In 2007, the Government of Maharashtra approved the School to offer innovative and need-based academic programmes in emerging and socially relevant areas such as Disaster Management, Water Management, International Finance and Banking, Human Resource Development, and Rural Development.

Over the years, the School has developed a diversified academic portfolio encompassing Management, Commerce, Disaster Management, Business Administration, and Hospitality Studies, with a continued focus on developing skilled, responsible, adaptable, and industry-ready professionals.

The uniqueness of SOMS lies in its commitment to need-based, socially relevant, and employment-oriented education, particularly for students from rural and developing regions of Marathwada. The school organizes seminars, workshops and conferences to promote research activities. The school has three recognized Ph. D. Supervisors under whom many Ph.D. students have registered and continuing their research work. The content of MBA course and its evaluation process are research oriented. M.Phil. students are also pursuing their dissertation work. Teachers have various Research Projects to their credits. There is regular participation of teachers and students in research conferences/seminars, and they do publish their research articles in highly circulated journals.
